Dr. Shadia Mahmoud
Dr. Shadia Mahmoud is a Director General of the department of International Organizations for Cultural Heritage, at Minister Office, Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities, Egypt. She received her Bachelor degree at Faculty of Egyptology, Cairo University before eventually becoming senior curator and head of the collection management department at Nubia Museum in 1995. Dr. Shadia received her MA & PhD degree at Museum Science Program, Texas Tech University. After her fifteen-year career as a head of collection management department at Nubia Museum, Dr. Shadia was appointed as museology specialist at National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), where she supervised junior curators and participated in the museum's scenario. In 2013, Dr. Shadia was assigned to work in the Minister Office where she acts as a coordinator between the Minister office, museums, and inspectorates and the international organizations such as UNESCO, ICOM, ICCROM, ISESCO, etc. She drafted several bilateral Memorandum and agreements on the protection of Egypt's cultural heritage. In cooperation with UNESCO, ICOM, and European Union, Dr. Shadia organized several workshops in risk preparedness for cultural heritage, illicit trafficking, management of World Heritage Sites, to mention but a few.
Takween are determined to provide innovative and concrete solutions to meet community needs to achieve inclusive urban spaces for future generations across Egypt and the Middle East. Takween offer services of; urban planning, architectural solutions and implementation, urban design, research, and heritage conservation and management. Takween has promoted and engaged in more than 75 projects, such as in Esna, Cairo, Giza, and more to preserve the "urban fabric that makes cities unique".
